Install Universal Modder without guessing
Choose your agent, check prerequisites and verify the CLI before touching a game.
Check prerequisites
The upstream README lists Python 3.10+ and ffmpeg; uv is recommended. Blender is needed for 3D-to-sprite renders. Driving Windows games requires Windows or WSL.
Keep the agent, toolkit and game versions in your notes. Installation instructions change; compare the commands below with the upstream README before running them.
Install for Claude Code
Run these in Claude Code. Afterwards, confirm that the plugin is visible in your agent before starting a mod.
/plugin marketplace add rehan-remade/universal-modder
/plugin install universal-modder@universal-modderInstall the CLI separately
If you only added skills, you may still need the um command-line toolkit. The upstream README provides this installation route.
uv tool install git+https://github.com/rehan-remade/universal-modder
um --helpConfigure assets only when needed
Cloud-generated assets use a fal API key. Store it in your local environment, never in a public prompt, screenshot or repository. Local ComfyUI is an alternative image path documented upstream.
Verify the CLI help, plugin presence and access to your own game directory before attempting a modification. These instructions are source-reviewed; ModLab has not reproduced an in-game installation yet.
Compare version-sensitive instructions with the current upstream documentation.
