Voidlands: a dimension, ore and teleport key
A NeoForge example adds floating islands, a rare ore, a new tool tier and a reusable item for travelling between dimensions.
The environment recorded upstream
- Game
- Minecraft Java 1.21.1
- Loader
- NeoForge 21.1.252 · ModDevGradle MDK
- Platform
- Windows 11 · Microsoft Store / Xbox launcher
- Tools
- JDK 21 · Parchment 2024.11.17 · GameTest
These are the source’s versions, not a promise for your current build.
How the pieces fit together
- Start from the matching NeoForge MDK and register the blocks, items and tool tier in Java.
- Generate dimension and world-generation JSON, then implement the teleport item.
- Build the jar and run dimension, ore and teleport checks on a development server. Inspect rendering in the actual client afterwards.
What the source reports testing
- The field note reports GameTests for tier statistics, generated blocks and a round-trip teleport.
- It separately reports a human client check for rendering. Later fixes strengthened teleport checks to require air around the player and open sky.
What remains unproven here
Headless checks did not verify textures, models or the sky. An end-user launcher installation guide remained an open question. ModLab has not reproduced this example.
Lessons from the source
A dimension test says the dimension is not loaded
The note used a normal development server for these tests; its dedicated GameTest server created only the Overworld.
Teleporting places the player inside terrain
Check the loaded destination chunk, head clearance and sky access, rather than only checking for a block underfoot.
Try a smaller first project
Begin with one registered item or block. Confirm it appears in your exact loader build before adding a dimension and custom progression.
