A mod builds, but the game will not load it
Check game builds, loader versions, output paths and conflicts in a controlled order.
Reproduce the baseline
Back up saves and confirm that the unmodified game starts. If the baseline fails, stop investigating the new mod until the original game runs.
Write down the exact game build, loader release and mod version. Do not assume the latest releases are compatible with one another.
Read the first relevant error
Inspect the loader log for the first failed dependency or exception. Later errors may just be consequences. Check whether the built output is in the loader’s actual mod directory.
Disable other mods using the loader’s normal controls and reproduce with only the new mod. Keep configuration backups so you can restore them.
Verify with a real game action
Once loading succeeds, perform the action the mod is meant to change. Confirm both the intended behavior and a restart.
If no version-specific reproduction exists, label the result unverified. A generic checklist should never be advertised as a guaranteed fix.
